almost worth living here
The wife and I went to Utah for Christmas this year, and as always we had to find some way to park our truck while we were away. Usually we pay $70-$90 to park at some garage, thus avoiding the parking tickets they hand out if you don't move your car for the street sweepers. This time the wife had a better plan... we left it in a spot that is swept on Tuesdays and Fridays. Since Tuesday was Christmas they wouldn't be sweeping that day, and since getting a ticket on Friday would only cost us $42, it would be a lot cheaper than what we usually pay.
When we got back today we found this on our windshield instead of a ticket. All the crappiness of our neighborhood, all the second class treatment our part of Jersey City gets, and all the incompetence and corruption of the police department aside, this was a welcome little surprise from our mayor. It almost makes up for the time my car was broken into, and the time it was stolen, and all the homeless people, drug addicts, and recently released prisoners who approach us several times each week begging for money... almost.
