The Bourne Ultimatum
The wife started reading The Bourne Ultimatum several weeks ago, and was almost finished with it when we saw the movie. She made it very clear that the book and the movie have almost nothing in common except the name Jason Bourne, and amnesia1. Otherwise the plot of this movie has absolutely nothing to do with the book. I don't know if the book is any good, but the movie sure is!
An awesome third installment to an awesome series. This movie has great stunts, awesome special effects, good acting (especially for an action movie), and unbelievable sound. Most action movies are really loud, but this movie is loud and very precise in making sure that everything has its own sound effect. From the regular punch-in-the-face sound, to the spring-on-the-wall doorstop, everything that moves or stops moving makes some kind of noise, and it all sounds great.
Another nice thing about this movie is that maintains a good balance between being unbelievable enough to be fun, but not so unrealistic that it becomes laughable.
high points: Nothing takes away the sting of a car bomb going off right next to you like jumping from rooftop to rooftop. Do you know where your towel is? He's no James Bond but he does get the girl (even if he doesn't remember it). Meet me at our secret government agency rendezvous spot, and by the way do you like the cute new picture of me? Bullets and bombs are easy to survive, but surviving a swim in the East River... now that takes a real specially trained indestructible rogue government assassin.
low points: Another Bourne movie another batch of corrupt high-level government officials. With a face like that, what government controlled electronic surveillance system could keep him out? Daddy Warbucks wants you to shoot the bad man, ok?
1) Although in the book he already has his memory back... and a family.

Totally agree. We got to the moviw late and were six rows from the front. Not recomended, I had a head ache by the end. BUt well worth the fun of the movie! PLus he looks a little like my husband. Double plus!
Small correction: in the book, he only has much of his memory back. He still has revelatory flashbacks from time to time.
