work weirdness

It's been a long time since I wrote anything here, and I have a very good reason for that. Not only has it been the weirdest week at work in a very long time, but I haven't actually worked here at home since July 5^th.

Last weekend I was involved in three shoots, which is a record for me. Two full regular shoots, and the third was one of those shoot-the-bride-prep-then-edit-something-for-the-reception-in-the-boss's-van situations. I was so worn out after the first two shoots that I didn't get everything ready for the third one, which really hosed my boss. We made it through, but I felt really crappy about it.

Over that same weekend my editing computer ceased functioning. I spent the first half of last week trying to salvage as many jobs as I could on our backup system, and the second half of the week training my boss's nephew to begin editing for us. I was at the office all week, which is why I wasn't working at home, which is why I didn't make any blog entries all week.

The up side to this whole week is that the boss finally decided that it's time for me to get a new editing system! We're supposed to run into NYC sometime this week to buy it. I'm pretty excited to start working on a modern system, rather than one built when I was only half way through film school, and which is so archaic that both the software and hardware are no longer supported by their manufacturer.

One more thing... I received my biggest ever paycheck this week! More than a full third of it went to the government, but what I got to keep was pretty sweet!
