Leviathan

Imagine the kind of movie you'd get if Alien and The Abyss had an illegitimate child, and Jaws delivered that baby. That's Leviathan.

The writing had a special emphasis on b-movie sentence structure with over exaggerated delivery to compensate. The special effects were actually pretty decent, other than the computer terminals with their cutting edge 16 color monitors. Highlights include gene altering vodka, flamethrowers designed for underwater mining, an ancient (it was the 1980's) version of the internet that reads everything back to you, sea-monster zombies that can absorb your intelligence by absorbing your body, and a diving suit that can bypass the bends and automatically decompress you for surface breathing.

Curse those commies and their secret experimental gene altering booze!
